Sivakarthikeyan’s 25^th film aims high

Sivakarthikeyan’s 25^th film was officially launched last weekend. Jayam Ravi and Atharva are also in the cast and the film will mark the 100^th film of its music composer, GV Prakash Kumar. The film is produced by Aaksh Baskaran of Dawn Pictures and will be directed by Sudha Kongara (Soorarai Pootru & Irudhi Suttru). Telugu actress, Sreeleela, recently seen in a special appearance in Pushpa 2, will make her debut to the Tamil screen as female lead. The film was originally titled Purananooru when Suriya was heading the cast. That title is likely to change. If rumours are correct, this will mark Sivakarthiekeyan’s most expensive film to date.

Soori’s new movie commences

With Viduthalai Part 2 set to release worldwide on Friday, 20 December, Soori’s latest film was formally launched on Monday,14 December. The film, titled Maaman will be directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, the director of Vilangu. The film is produced by Lark Studios and will have music by Hesham Abdul Wahab.

Illaiyaraja’s biopic not dropped

Over the last week, there were many reports in the media that the planned biopic on Illaiyaraja had been shelved. Directed by Arun Mathswaran, pre-production work is proceeding at a brisk pace. Filming will start in the second half of 2025

Selvaraghavan’s new mystery thriller

GV Prakash Kumar will head the cast of Selvaraghavan’s new mystery thriller, Mental Manadhil. Madhuri Jain plays the female lead and GV Prakash Kumar will score the music, marking his third collaboration as music composer with Selvaraghavan. The film is produced by Parallel Universe Production House.

Biopic on Tamil Cinema’s first superstar

Dulqer Salman plays the lead role in the biopic of MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar. The film is titled Kaantha and will be written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Samuthirakani plays an important role, along with Raja Daggubati who is also the film’s producer. 

Double Delight for Ajithkumar fans

Ajithkumar completed shooting for Good Bad Ugly on 15 December. The day after he resumed shooting for Vidaa Muyarchi. After the completion of the scenes in Bangkok, continuity scenes will be shot, commencing on 25 January next year.

Jayam Ravi’s 34^th film launched

Jayam Ravi plays the male lead in the second film of Ganesh K Babu, the director of the hit film, Dada. The currently untitled film will be produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment and will feature music by Harris Jayaraj.
