Dushara Vijayan is the daughter of a Dindigul DMK Treasurer, K Vijayan. She was born on 14 October 1997. She initially commenced an engineering degree, but soon changed direction to fashion designing.
She made her film debut in the 2019 film Bodhai Yeri Budhi Maari directed by newcomer, Chandru K, an aviator. The film was not a commercial success, but Dushara found fame and recognition with her second role, playing Arya’s screen wife, Mariyamma, in Pa. Ranjith’s critically acclaimed film Sarpattai Parambarai.
Her next film, Anbulla Ghilli, had a direct to television release on 6 February 2022, almost three years after completion. After failing to secure a screen because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the producers eventually released the film on Colours TV.
Dushara’s next film was the controversial film Natchatiram Nagagirathu saw the film attract some positivity among the many criticisms.
Undeterred, Dushara then turned her sights to a blatantly political film – Kazhuverthi Moorkan opposite Arulnithi, nephew of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The film had an average run, but did not do wonders for Dushara’s career.
Dushara’s career graph changed when she was cast once again opposite Arjun Das in Vasanthabalan’s critically lauded film, Aneedhi. Dushara has medt director Vasanthabalan during the shooting of Sarpatai Parambarai and promised hr role that would boost her career. He fulfilled his promise with Aneethi.
Dushara’s next project was Dhanush’s second directorial, Raayan where she played Dhanush’s screen sister, Durga. Although Raayan attracted lukewarm reviews, Dushara’s intense portrayal of Durga led to praise and appreciation from audiences and critics.
Raayan was followed by an important role in Rajinikanth’s T.J. Gnanavel’s directorial, Vettaiyan where she played the role of school teacher, Saranya. This role also won her praise and admiration.
Dushara Vijayan peaked with her portrayal of Kalaivaani, Vikram’s screen wife in Veera Dheera Sooran written and directed by S.U. Arun Kumar. The role was an opportunity to show her acting depth and she did this without being overshadowed by Vikram and the rest of the cast.
Dushara’s next film will be Vishal’s Magudam.
