Musical Tribute to P.B. Srinivas on his 95th Birth Anniversary

P.B. Srinivas was a singer, lyricist and composer who worked in the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi film industries. He has sung more than 3000 songs.

He was born on 22 September 1930. Inspired by his uncle, he sang on stage for the first time when he was 12. This slowly opened doors for him. After he joined Gemini Studios as a harmonium player, he was noticed by the proprietor – S.S. Vasan – who then introduced him as a playback singer in a Hindi film, Mr Sampat.

He made his debut to Tamil in 1953 through the film Jathakam, He sang frequently for Gemini Ganesan and R. Muthuraman, but also sang for MG Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan. He was known for his soulful renditions of songs but could sing in western pop style just as easily.

P.B. Srinivas passed away on 14 April 2013 at the age of 82.
