Music composer, singer, actor, producer, director and lyricist, Vijay Antony, turned 50 today.
He was on 24 July 1975 in Nagercoil. He had no formal music training and started his career as a sound engineer. His research on sound engineering led to him composing jingles and then background scores for TV shows.
It was producer Oscar Ravichgandran who first recognised his talent and asked him to compose music for the Jiiva starrer, Dishyum. Delays to the that film saw his first released film being Sukran which starred Ravi Krishna in the lead role and featuring (Thalapathy) Vijay in a guest role.
Vijay Antony enjoyed a high percentage of hits with his songs.
In 2012 he made his acting debut, playing the lead role in the thriller Naan. The film opened up many more opportunities for him.
He made his directorial debutwith Pitachaikaaran 2.
Vijay Antony’s last released film – Margaan – opened to positive reviews and his next film will be Shakthi Thirumagan – his home production. He has been nominated for many major awards.
