Mirza Abbas Ali – known to Tamil audiences simply as Abbas – was born on 21 May 1979 to a Tamil-speaking Muslim family in Kolkata.
After numerous modelling assignments, he audtioned for the role in Kathir’s lavish venture, Kaadhal Dhesam where his co-stars were Vineeth and Tabu. The film was a huge success.
His second film, VIP was also a major hit, but his subsequent films suffered at the box-office. Unfortunately for him, his decision to accept these films meant that he had to turn down offers to act in iconic films like Kaadhalukku Mariyaadhai and Jeans.
Abbas then began accepting supporting roles and shared the screen with many stalwarts and like Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth, Kamalhaasan, Mammootty, R. Madhavan, Sarathkumar, Murali, Sathyaraj and Prasanna.
With diminishing acting assignments coming his way, Abbas emigrated to New Zealand where he dound various small jobs in Auckland before bouncing back as a motivational speaker.
