Malayalalm actor Basil Joseph, the director of the superhero film Minnal Murali, will make his debut to the Tamil screen in an important role in Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film, Parasakthi directed by Sudha Kongara. The cast and crew are currently filming on location in Sri Lanka and Joseph’s scenes will be completed within the current two-week schedule.

Despite many hiccups during filming schedules, including severe weather conditions, Lokesh Kanagaraj has completed shooting for Rajinikanth’s Coolie precisely on schedule. The digital rights for the film have been sold to Amazon Prime for a record 120 crores (a little more than USD 66 million). The film has Rajinikanth, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Sruthi Haasan and Soubin Shahir in the cast, Bollywood megastar, Aamir Khan, makes a special guest appearance. The film was scheduled for release on 15 August 2024 but could release sooner.

A.R.Rahman caused quite a stir when he was admitted to Chennai’sApollo Hospital a day after returning from London. The initial reports indicated that he was suffering from chest pains. However, it was later revealed that he had some indigestion and a stomach bug. The 58-year old Oscar award-winning music composer was discharged a day later.

Suriya’s 45th film, directed by RJ Balaji, will see him play a dual role – one a s a lawyer and one as Lord Ayyanar. The supporting cast includes Trisha, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam and Yogi Babu. The film will feature music by Sai Abhyankar. The film was formally launched on 27 November 2024 and is scheduled for release this November.

Karthi’s 29th film, produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under the Dream Warriors banner, is written and directed by Thmaizh, the director of the critically acclaimed films Election, Sethumaan and Tanakaaran. The currently untitled film is rumoured to be released in two parts. Karthi is currently filming for Sardar 2 after which he will commence shooting for his 29th film.

Will Vishnu Vishal and director Ramkumar score a hat-trick of success with their third collaboration? Titled Irandu Vaanam, the title and poster suggests a love story, but audiences can expect something out of the ordinary. Ramkumar and Vishnu Vishal first worked together in Mundasupatti – a 2014 co-production of Fox Star Studios and C.V. Kumar’s Thirukumaran Entertainment. They then came together in the 2018 thriller, Ratchasan. Music for their third venture will be scored by Dhibu Ninan Thomas.

Two great movies will begin streaming this Friday, 21 March 2025. This year’s highest grossing Tamil film, Dragon with Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role will premiere on Netflix this Friday.On the same day, you can catch Dhanush’s third directorial, Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kodam (NEEK) on Amazon Prime.
