Sruthi Haasan shares screen with Vijay again
Sruthi Haasan has joined the cast of Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan. The cast and crew are filming fight and talkie portions in Payyanur. The crew will be there for these rest of the week. Jana Nayagan is directed by H. Vinod and is set for release in Pongal 2026.
Rajinikanth’s Coolie resumes shooting
Shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s eagerly-anticipated Rajinikanth starrer, Coolie resumed yesterday in Chennai. Rajinikanth’s portions are expected to be completed within the next two weeks and the entire shoot should be wrapped by March to enable the film to release this April. However, Lokesh Kanagaraj is always very particular about keeping to schedule and has not yet announced a release date for Coolie. The completion of the filming schedule will enable Rajinikanth to turn his attention to Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2 which will commence shooting on 09 April.
Karthi’s 29th film to launch soon
Karthik’s hard-hitting gangster film had its first look poster revealed this week. The film depicts Vadivelu sharing equal poster space with Karthi in what appears to be a very serious role for him. The film is directed by Thamizh who made his directorial debut last year with the film Seththumaan.
Meanwhaile, Karthi has resumed shooting for Sardar 2 at Sundar Studios in Chennai. Directed by PS Mithran, this film is set for release on Aayutha Poojai this year.
Silambarasan’s 49th: Casting begins
Silambarasan;s 49th film will be directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan, the director of the critically acclaimed film, Parking. This weekend, negotiations have commenced to cast Sai Pallavi in the female lead and Santhaanam once again in a comedic role. There has been no official announcement to this effect. The announcement will only be made once this has been confirmed.
Amaran crosses 100 days
Despite its official release on streaming platforms, the Sivakarthikeyan-Sai Pallavi starrer, Amaran crossed 100 days this week. The film has redefined the careers of Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi and the film’s director, Rajkumar Periyasamy.
Sequel to Conjuring Kannappan
The success of Sathish’s last released film, Sattam en Kaiyil has drawn renewed interest in his acting capability. Selvin Raj Xavier, who directed Conjuring Kannappan has now approached Sathish (for the second time) to head the cast of a big budget sequel to the sleeper hit, Conjuring Kannapppan.
Early OTT release for Kaadhalikka Neramillai
The Ravi Mohan-Nithya Menen love story, Kaadhalikka Neramillai, will have an earlier than planned streaming release on Netflix on 11 February. Directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanithi, the film did not enjoy much box-office success despite releasing over an extended long weekend. AR Rahman scores the music.
