Chandrasekar is better known by his industry name Pirraisoodan and was born in Thirivarur district on 06 February 1956.

He was introduced to the film world by M.S. Viswanathan through the song Rasathi Rosapoo from the Rajesh-Lakshmi starrer Sirai (1984). Later, MS Viswanathan would confer the title Kavi Nyaani on Pirraisoodan for the speed with which he was able to write lyrics.

Pirraisoodan won the Tamil Nadu state award for Best Lyricist three times: Thayagam (1996), En Rasavin Manasile (1991) and Neeyum Naanum (2010).

Pirraisoodan has also scripted films like Sathriya Dharmam, Krodhan 2 and Shankar. He has also made brief screen appearances in films like Amaran (1992), Sathuranga Vettai (2014) and Annathey (2021).
