Tamil cinema mourns the loss of verstaile actress, Pushpalatha who passed way earlier today at the age of 87.
Pushpalatha has acted in more than 100 films in Tamil, Telugu , Kannada and Malayalam.She made her debut to the Tamil screen through the 1958 film, Sengottai Singam produced by Devar Films.
She met AVM Rajan on the sets of Naanum oru Penn and the love that blossomed on set led to their marriage. A year later, she was the Lux model and gained wider fame through this.
She has shared the screen with MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, Kamalhaasan and Rajinikanth – among many others. Her last film was the 1999 film Poo Vaasam.
After her last film, Pushpalatha spent many years continuing her spiritual work and supporting numerous charities. She was also a trained Bharatha Natyam dancer.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters.
