Mni Ratnam is in talks to do another film with Rajinikanth in the lead roles. The duo came together only once 33 years ago for the 1991 blockbuster, Thallabadhi. That film, which released for Deepavali 1991, introduced to the screen Aravindswamy and boasted an ensemble cast that included Mammooty, Shobhana, Jaishankar, Shri Vidhya Banupriya, Amrish Puri, Geetha, Nagesh, Charuhassan and Kitty.
An official announcement will be made on 12 December this year – Rajinikanth’s birthday, so fans still have a long wait.
Incidentally, Thallabadhi marked the last film in which Mani Ratnam collaborated with Illaiyaraja and Vaali, switching the following year to the A.R.Rahman-Vairamuthu combination.
