Amaran with a dream run
The release of Amaran on Netflix will definitely see the ticket sales at cinemas drop, but the film has earned its place in the record books. It is the tenth Tamil film in history to cross 10 million tickets sold in Tamil Nadu. The film recently crossed the 328-crore mark and could well set new records. The film has redefined the career of actor Sivakarthikeyan and turned the spotlight on actress Sai Pallavi and the film’s director, Rajkumar Periasamy.
Chennai International Film Festival
Amaran is of 25 Tamil films that will feature in this month’s Chennai International Film Festival. The featured films includeKottukaali, Lubber Pandhu, Thangalaan, Vaazhai and Maharaja. Amaran director Rajkumar Periasamy and Thangalaan director Pa. Ranjith will head special panel discussions on the films.
Sivakarthikeyan’s 24th film
Work will soon commence on Sivakarthikeyan’s 24th film, which will be directed by Cibi Chakravarthy who made his directorial debut in the 100-crore Grossser, Don. The film will also reportedly star Rashmika Mandanna and SJ Surya. Anirudh Ravichander scores the music.
SJ Surya dons his director avatar again
SJ Surya is to return to directing films with a film titled Killer which will go to the floors in January 2025. SJ Surya will also play the lead role. The cast and crew will be announced later this month.
Double treat for fans of Rajinikanth this December
Fans of Superstar Rajinikanth can look forward to two things on his birthday – 12 December. His 1991 blockbuster, Thalapathi, will be re-released across Tamil Nadu, giving a new generation to witness this cinematic feast on the big screen. This date will also see the release of a teaser for Jailer 2.
Cynthia Lourde makes her debut as a lead actress
US-based Tamil Indie singer Cynthia Lourde is the producer and lead actress of the film Dinasari which has Shrikanth playing the lead role. Directed by Shankar Bharath, the film is billed as an action comedy and has lyrics and music by the legendary Isai Gnani Illayaraja. The supporting cast includes MS Bhaskar, Premgi Amaran, Meera Krishnan and Vinodhini.
