Vijay and the Jana Nayagan issue

The makers of Jana Nayagan have decided to withdraw their appeal against the Central Board of Film Certification over the proposed cuts to the film. The dispute has resulted in a financially crippling decision that saw the film pulled out of the running for a Pongal release after tickets had been sold across the globe.

The decision will see the CBFC make multiple cuts and mute several lines of dialogue. Even with the withdrawal of the case, it would take at least a month for everything to be completed to clear the film for release.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s full concentration is on the upcoming elections where he has dismissed talks of coalition talks, saying that he will win a clear majority to form his own government without the help of other parties.

His other projects this year include the long-awaited sequel to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Kaithi as well as the eagerly anticipated sequel to Sardar.
