Suriya’s Kanguva will set new records for the widest release of a Tamil film to date. The film has secured 700 seats across Tamil Nadu and will have a record 3000 screens in North Indian states and more than 1800 screens across other South Indian states. With new screens being added on a daily basis, the film is set to release across 10 000 screens globally – a new record for Tamil films.
Apart from the original Tamil version, the film will also release in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, Kanguva is written and directed by Siva. The film sees Suriya in a dual role, but sporting 13 different looks in the film. He is supported by Bollywood’s Bobby Deol and Disha Patani – both making their debut to the Tamil screen. The rest of the cast includes Natarajan Subramaniam, Redin Kingsley, Yogi, Kovai Saralla, Anandraj, Bala Saravanan, Deepa Venkat and K.S. Ravikumar.
The film is scripted by Siva, Adhi Narayana and Madhan Karky from a story by Siva and Adhi Narayana. National award winner Devi Sri Prasad scores the music.
Kanguva was first launched in 2019 but was halted because of the Covid19 pandemic. The film was relaunched in 2022.
Kanguva will marks Suriya’s first film as lead actor since the release of Jai Bhim in 2021.
Kanguva will be released globally on Thursday, 14 November 2025. It will be released in South Africa by Kavin Media on selected Cine Centre and Ster Kinekor screens.
