“Jana Nayagan” finally cleared for release

More than three weeks after the drama surrounding Jana Nayagan began, the film has finally been cleared for release. The producers have agreed to abide by all cuts and muting by the Central Board of Film Certification while Vijay’s lack of direct involvement in the saga has come under the expected scrutiny.

A new release date for Jana Nayagan will be announced within the next three days.

Dhanush’s 55th film set to be one of the biggest movies of 2026

Even before the announcement of the cast, Dhanush’s 55th film attracted a lot of interest. The film marks the first time collaboration between Dhanush and director Rajkumar Periyasamy, the director of Sivakarthikeyan’s 2024 hit film, Amaran.

The film is set to be a high energy spy thriller and will see Dhanush share the screen with Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela. Sai Abhyankar scores the music. The film is likely to have a Deepavali release.

Dhanush’s 57th film set to be helmed by H. Vinoth

H. Vinoth, the director of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Ajithkumar’s Valimai, will direct Dhanush’s 57th film. There are unconfirmed reports that this film will be the same as the one pitched to Ajith Kumar where the protagonist is a conman.

Dhanush’s 56th film promises an energetic collaboration with Thamizharasan Pachamuthu, the director of Lubber Pandhu.

Maestro Illaiyaraja scores music for new web series

R. Madhavan, Gautham Karthik, Kaali Venkat, Ramesh Thilak, Nimisha Sajayan, Swastik, Harish Uthaman and Gulshan Devaiah head the cast in the web series titled Legacy – a big-budget web series directed by Charukesh Sekar, the director of Retro and Ammu. A major coup for the production team was when they secured Maestro Illaiyaraja to handle the original music score.

Sivakarthikeyan’s focus turns to pure entertainment

As indicated in the last edition of Cine News Digest, Sivakarthikeyan has formally launched his latest film to be directed by Thaai Kizhavi director, Sivakumar Murugesan. He had initially planned the film as his own production but has since been approached by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International who have come on board as co-producers.

In addition, his next film will be for Parking-fame Ramkumar Balakrishnan produced by Passion Studio and his 26th film, under Venkat Prabhu’s direction, will commence after the completion of his current film for Sivakumar Murugesan.

Jerard Felix to score music for Vetri-Sathyaraj starrer

Vetri and Sathyaraj head the cast in the dark comedy thriller 4 Windows. The impressive supporting cast includes Prathana Nathan, M.S. Bhaskar, Kovai Sarala, Chinni Jayanth, Vaiyapuri and T.M. Karthick. N.S. Uthayakumar of Kurangu Bommai fame handles cinematography. The film is set to release on 15 May this year.

“Naan” director collaborates with Atharva

Atharva plays a dual role in his latest film, Valai opposite Rupa Manjari and Vani Bhojan. Jeeva Sankar who directed Amara Kaaviyam and Naan, directs the film and is also the film’s cinematographer. The supporting cast includes Jayaprakash, Aadukalam Naren, Thulasi, Imman Annaachi and the Late Mayilsamy.  Ghibran scores the music. Valai was first launched in 2023 and suffered numerous setbacks.

Atharva completes work on the long-delayed Idhayam Murali

Aakash Baskaran, the proprietor of Dawn Pictures, makes his debut as a director through the film Idhayam Murali. Atharva played the lead role opposite Preity Mukundhan. Kayadu Lohar, Niharika, Jonita Gandhi, Natarajan Subramaniam, Sudhakar and S. Thaman.
