Last year, in its inaugural year, the Sigaram team compiled the list of Top 20 songs for the year. There was no voting system and the criteria used for the selection of songs were as follows:
- Originality and creativity in music
- Freshness of arrangement and instrumentation in the music.
- Complexity of the composition
- Emotional and overall impact of the song
- Quality and depth of the lyrics
This year, we have introduced a voting system, allowing readers of Sigaram to vote for their favourite songs. The request from the Sigaram team is that the same five criteria should be used in selecting your songs. Some songs are trendy and popular for a short time and lose their freshness after a year. The ideal song should be song that would earn itself a place one day in the list of classic songs.
To help you, you will find below a YouTube playlist of all songs in the running for Song of the Year this year. Watch, listen and then send your votes (only 3 songs per message) to +27 83 778 1468.
