Pooja Hegde’s mother tongue is Tulu and was born in Mumbai. Her parents hailed from Udupi in Karnataka.
Pooja Hegde gained recognition and fame after her participation in the Miss Universe India Beauty Pageant. Two years after her participation, she landed the female lead in Mysskin’s 2012 action thriller, Mugamoodi.
After making her mark in Telugu and Hindi films, Pooja returned to the Tamil screen opposite Vijay in Nelson Dilipkumar’s directorial Beast. Although the film was a huge money spinner, it was mercilessly trolled by critics.
After another short break from Tamil films, she returned in a role opposite Suriya in Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro.
She subsequently played a much-publicised cameo in Rajinikanth’s Coolie where she featured in the trending song Monica.
She is currently completing work on the film Jana Nayagan, touted to be the last film of Thalapathy Vijay. She is also currently filming for Kanchana 4.
Pooja is the recipient of 4 SIIMA Awards, 4 Filmfare South Awards.
Pooja Hegde turns 35 today (13 October 2025).
