Multi-Talented K. Manikandan turns 38 today

K. Manikandan is better known for his acting roles, but is a versatile film artiste with multiple talents in numerous films thus far.

He started his entertainment career as an RJ while simultaneously lending his voice for several TV shows and dubbed or partially dubbed films.

He made his debut as a screen writer in Pizza 2: The Villa and his acting debut in the Vijay Antony starrer, India Pakistan. He subsequently appeared in a minor role in Kaadalum Kadanthu Pogum andas the antagonist in 8 Thottakkal.

He then penned the script for Pushkar-Gayathri’s maiden feature directorial debut, Vikram Vedha. This effort won for him the Vijay Award for Best Dialogue Writer.

He shared the screen with Rajinikanth in Kaala and then played an important role in Sillu Karuppatti. His role in Halitha Shameem’s Aelay received much praise and critical acclaim.

Manikandan also scripted Ajithkumar’s Viswasam and co-wrote the screenplay of the Karthika-Jyothika starrer, Thambi.

Manikandan made his debut as a director in the 2016 dual language venture Narai Ezhuthum Suyasaritham in which he shared the lead with veteran actor Delhi Ganesh. Under its English title, Endless, the film featured in the Bengaluru International Film Festival and was subsequently screened at the 16th New York Indian International Film Festival.

His role in Suriya’s Jai Bhim brought him great acclaim and recognition and this led to him being cast in the lead role of Vinayak Chandrasekaran’s debut directorial, Good Night. This film was a huge hit and firmly established Manikandan as an actor.

In 2024, he starred in the modern love story, Lover which won praise for its realistic portrayal of modern love and an outstanding acting performance by Manikandan.

His last released film, Kudumbasthan, released in January this year also enjoyed rave reviews.

Manikandan is also a talented mimicry artist. Among his many achievements, he also dubbed for Vijayakanth’s AI generated character in The Greatest of all Time,
