Khushbu turns 55

Khushbu was born as Nakkath Khan in Bombay, now Mumbai, and was given the name Khushbu by her parents after she made her foray into acting as a child star. After a fair degree of success in Bollywood, Khushbu made her debut to South Indian films through the Telugu film industry in 1986. Two years later she made her debut to Tamil films opposite Prabhu in the Rajinikanth starrer, Dharmathin Thalaivan.

After playing the lead role in several successful films like Varusham 16, Vetri Vizha, Kizhakku Vaasal, Michael Madhana Kamarajan and Nadigan, Khushbu went on to become the number 1 actress on the Tamil screen, after starring in P Vasu’s Chinna Thambi a blockbuster movie.

She has been embroiled in numerous controversies and remains a very vocal person on social media and very actively involved in politics.

Khushbu has appeared in more than 185 films and is the winner of 3 Tamil Nadu State Awards, 2 Cinema Express Awards, the Kalaimamani Award and a Kerala State Award. She is married to director Sundar C and they have two daughters, Avanthika and Anandita.
