Actor Vishal got engaged to actress Sai Dhanshika today – 29 August 2025 – on his 48th birthday. The couple had announced their relationship in May this year and chose to have the engagement ceremony as a small event at Vishal’s residence, with only close family and friends present.

Vishal’s family hails from Andhra Pradesh. He was born in Chennai on 29 August 1977 and completed his secondary and tertiary education in Chennai.

His parents were film producers and his brother, Vikram Krishna, is also an actor and producer.

Vishal made an uncredited debut as a child star in the 1989 film Jadi Ketha Moodi. After serving as an assistant director to actor-turned-director Arjun, Vishalmade his official debut as a lead actor in Gandhi Krishna’s 2004 directorial, Chellamae. The film crossed 100 days at the box-office, but its success was eclipsed by Vishal’s second film, Sandakozhi which crossed 210 days on circuit, catapulting Vishal’s marketability.

Vishal showed an early eagerness to experiment with his roles – as evident in his roles in Bhoopathy Pandiyan’s Malaikottai and Bala’s Avan Ivan.

Vishal had mixed success at the box-office with his films, but he persevered. In 2012 he turned producer through the film Pandiya Naadu. His eagerly anticipated 25th film, Sandakozhi 2 met with box-office failure, but it did not shake his confidence.

Vishal has been an outspoken person in the film industry and has frequently been involved in controversies. This includes his periodic tussles with the Tamil Film Producers Council and the Nadigar Sangam. There was also the much publicised spat with Director Mysskin.

He is currently working on the film Magudam  directed by Ravi Arasu and will see him play a triple role. Vishal’s long-delayed debut as a director in Thupparivalan 2 will come to reality later this year.
