Comedy actor Madhan Bob, who appeared in over 600 films, passes away at 71

Popular comedy actor, Madhan Bob, who starred in more than 600 films, has passed away at the age of 71. He had been fighting cancer for a few years.

Born as S. Krishnamurthy, he took on the name Madhan Bob for the screen. He delighted audiences with his unique brand of humour and was also an accomplished musician trained in western and Carnatic music. On eof earliest protégés was A.R. Rahman.

He was introduced to the screen by K. Balachander in Vaaname Ellai and shared the screen with every major actor of his time, including his favourite role – sharing the screen with Sivaji Ganesan in Thevar Magan. His last movie was Yaman Kattallai, released on 09 May 2025.

He is survived by his wife and two children.
