Radha Ravi is the son of legendary actor M.R. Radha. His elder brother, M.R. R, Vasu was a prolific actor in the 1970s. His half-sister is M.R. Radhika – now Radhika Sarathkumar and his other half-sister is Nirosha.
He made his debut to the screen in a Kannada film produced by actor Bharath’s father. It was Kamlhaasan who introduced him to K. Balachander which resulted in him being cast in Manmadha Leela, marking his Tamil debut.
While Rama Narayanan cast him regularly, it was T. Rajender who highlighted his ability to portray the villain, often imitating the unique sound of his father’s voice. He often combined the roles of villain and comedian and excellent comedic timing, as evident in Chinna Maapleh scripted by Crazy Mohan.
Radha Raviu also produced film with films like Ithu Namma Bhoomi and Chinna Muthu to his credit.
Radha Ravi is outspoken on many issues and has frequently been in the midst of major controversies. He has been part of various political parties and remains vocal about his political views.
Radha Ravi turned 72 today.
