Actress Saritha turns 65 today.

Saritha is a veteran of more than 150 films in a career spanning more than 45 years.

She was introduced to the Tamil screen by K. Balachander who cast her in the female lead opposite Rajinikanth in Thappu Thaalangal.

She went on to have a successful career in Tamil films, often playing challenging and unusual roles. She has won 6 Filmfare Awards, 5 Tamil Nadu state awards, 5 Nandi awards and her latest accolade is the SIIMA award for Best Actress in a Supporting role for her role as Sivakarthikeyan’s mother in the 2023 film Maaveeran.

Saritha is also a multilingual dubbing artist and has lent her voice to top actresses including Simran, Jyothika, Sneha, Devayani, Radha, Sujatha, Madhavi, Banupriya, Suhasini, Vijayashanthi, Nadhiya, Shobhana, Nagma, Meena, Ramya Krishnan, Roja, Soundarya and Vidya Balan.

Saritha is best known for her role opposite Kamalhaasan in K. Balachander’s Telugu hit movie Maro Charitra –a movie that was remade into Hindi as Ek Duuje Ke Liye, marking the Hindi debut of K.Balachander, Kamalhaasan and S.P. Balasubaramaniyam (as singer).

Saritha continues to act and dub. She celebrates her 65th birthday today (07 June 2025)
