Sai Pallavi was born on 09 May 1992 to a Badaga family in Coimbatore. She showed an early interest in dancing and participated in some TV dance shows as a contestant on Vijay TV and ETV.
After uncredited roles in Kasthuri Maan and Dhaam Dhoom and then turning down numerous offers to act, she made her debut in the Malayalam film, Premam – which became a blockbuster hit.
Unaffected by the success of the film, she returned to her studies as a medical student although never going on to register to practice medicine even after completing her degree.
On her return to films, she starred in two Telugu films before returning to the Tamil screen with A.L. Vijay’s bilingual horror film Diya, made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu.
Sai Pallavi’s first direct to Tamil film was Maari 2 opposite Dhanush. Even if her screen character was forgotten, her dance skills in the viral hit song Rowdy Baby made her a star across the globe.
After starring in Selvaraagavan’s NGK opposite Suriya and in the Paava Kadhaigal anthology, Sai Pallavi made an indelible mark in the deeply moving film Gargi directed by Gautham Ramachandran. The film won widespread critical appraise and won numerous awards, including three different Best Actress Awards for Sai Pallavi.
Sai Pallavi’s last Tamil film, Amaran, was a blockbuster hit and has won numerous accolades, undoubtedly heading for more.
