Today sadly marks the 21st death anniversary of popular and talented actress Soundarya who passed away tragically on 17 April 2004.
Although she is a well-known face in Tamil films, her greatest and most significant contribution was made in the Telugu film industry. Her mother tongue was Kannada.
She made her debut to the Tamil screen in R.V. Udhayakumar’s 1993 Karthik-Sivakumar starrer, Ponnumani, She went on to star in 11 Tamil films, including Kamalhaasan’s Kaadhala Kaadhala, Rajinikanth’s Padaiyappa and Arunachalam and Sivaji Ganesan’s Mannavaru Chinnavaru.
Soundarya died tragically when the aircraft she was travelling in crashed and burst into flames shortly after take-off.
