Shamshuddin Ibrahim is known to film fans as Shaam. He was born on 04 April 1977. After a brief stint as a model, he was cast in the lead role of 12B, the directorial debut of cinematographer Jeeva. However, due to numerous delays suffered with this film, his first released film was the Vijay-Jyothika film, Kushi, directed by SJ Surya.

A third film of his, Leya Leysa was also delayed and released a year later in 2003, by which time he had already starred in Yei Nee Romba Azhagaa Irukkey, Bala and Anbe Anbe.

At the end of 2003, he starred in the national award winning film Iyarkai the debut directorial of the late SP Jananathan. Although the film garnered much praise, it failed at the box-office.

His 2005 film Ullam Ketkumeh, Jeeva’s second directorial, marked his first success at the box-office.

Undeterred by the setbacks, Shaam persevered, but his woes worsened after the untimely death of Jeeva.

Shaam then migrated to the Telugu film industry where he fared much better. He returned to the Tamil screen in 2011 in the film 6, but the negative reviews from this film saw him being forced to accept negative and supporting roles. He will return to playing the lead role in the film Asthram.
