Writer, director and producer CV Rajendran was born on 12 March 1937 in a rural area close to Madurantakam. His first cousin was maverick producer and director CV Sridhar, the director of hit films like Kalyana Parisu, Kaadhalikka Neramillai and Vennira Aadai.

He was also associate director for the films Kaadhalikka neramillai, Nenjil Ohr Alayam and Vennira Aadai. He made his debut as a director in the R.Muthuraman-Rajasree starrer, Anubavam Pudhumai.
