Unexpected drama surrounds the release of “Parasakthi” teaser

The release today of the teaser of Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film, Parasakthi, ihas been an eventful one for many reasons.

Whilst some (like me) may have expected a period drama, easer appears to prepare the viewer for a period dramatic thriller.

The teaser itself has some beautifully artistic shots with creative lighting. The film also has an impressive supporting cast that includes Ravi Mohan, Atharva and Sreeleela. The film is written and directed by Sudha Kongara (Irudhi Suttru and Soorarai Pottru) and marks the 100th film of music composer GV Prakash Kumar.

However, there was also some tense dram associated with the title teaser. AVM Productions issued a public statement that they had given permission to Dawn Pictures to use the title. AVM Productions were the producers of the 1962 film titled Parasakthi which was penned by M. Karunanidhi and introduced to the screen in the title role Sivaji Ganesan.

Meanwhile, actor- music composer- film producer, Vijay Antony has lodged an official protest, providing evidence that he had registered the title Parasakthi for a forthcoming Telugu film. Vijay Antony would probably pursue this further, but somebody should whisper in his ear that that would mean going up against Red Giant Movies….a lost battle.
