I’m not sure why Illaiyaraja, who was particularly close with Bhavatharini, decided to recreate her voice using AI for this song. The AI generated voice sounds alarmingly close to how Bhavatharini would have sung the song and this makes it a painful experience to the music lovers who so adored her voice and singing. Ranjith and Priya Jerson handle the complexities of the song with remarkable deftness and their voices blend very well together.
Lyrics
While Illaiyaraja is widely praised for his absolute genius level compositions, his skill in poetic lyrics remains largely under-appreciated. This song too makes clever use of language in a simple but effective way.
Final Analysis
Whilst it does not have the artistic depth of Illaiyaraja’s recent songs, it is a beautiful song that has all the makings of a hit song.
