Ajith Kumar conferred with 3rd Highest Civilian Award

Ajith Kumr has been awarded India’s 3rd Highest Civilian Honoure – the Padma Bhushan, making him only the fifth Tamil actor to receive this prestigious award. The previous recipients were Sivaji Ganesan in 1984, Rajinikanth in  2000, Kamalhaasan in 2014 and a posthumous award for Vijayakanth in 2014

Ajithkumar issued a public statement following the announcement on Saturday evening (25 Jan 2025), saying “I am deeply humbled and honoured to receive the esteemed Padma Bhushan award by the President of India. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu and the Honourable Prime Minister, Sri Narendra Modi for the prestigious honour. It is a privilege to be recognized at such a level and I am truly grateful for this generous acknowledgment of my contributions to our nation. At the same time, I am mindful that this recognition is not just a personal accolade, but a testament to the collective efforts and support of many.”

He went on to thank everyone in the film and racing fraternities as well as his colleagues and associates in the Madras Motor Sports Club, The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India, the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, the National Rifle Association of India and the Chennai Rifle Club.

He went on to thank his family and friends, expressing regret that his father was not alive to witness this honour.

He expressed special thanks to his fans and supporters: “This award is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you all for this incredible honour and for being part of this journey.”

It has been a hugely successful period for Ajith Kumar whotook to the winners blocks at the Dubai International 24 Hour Endurance Race after launching Ajith Kumar Racing.

On the film front, Ajithkumar’s eagerly-anticipated thriller, Vidaa Muyarchi will release world wide – including in South Africa – on 06 February 2024 and his film for Adhik Ravichandran – Good Bad Ugly is scheduled for release oon 10 April 2025.

This weekend, he finalised talks to reunite with director Vishnu Varadhan (Billa 2007 and Arrambam) for a big budget action film that will be financed by Red Giant Movies.
