Sneha’s mother tongue is Telugu and her real name is Suhasini. She was born in Andhra Pradesh on 12 October 1981.
She was to have made her debut to Tamil films in Sushi Ganesan’s Virumbugiren, but the many delays suffered by that film saw her first released film being J. Suresh’s Ennavalle, which saw her play the female lead opposite R. Madhavan.
After a successful role in Anandham, Sneha then starred in K. Balachander’s 100th film, Parthale Paravsam which unfortunately failed at the box-office.
She had mixed success with her films in 2002, but her role in Vikraman’s Unnai Ninaithu brought to her her first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her first signing – Virumbugiren released in December the same year, with that role winning for her the Tamil Nadu state award for Best Lead Actress.
She continued to have mixed success at the box-office, but scored gold with her role in the directorial debut of Karu Palaniappan, Parthiban Kanavu opposite Shrikanth. This role earned her widespread praise.
In the years that followed, Sneha held strong with her films ranging from average grossers to hits.
In 2007 she starred in the critically acclaimed international film Achchamundu Achchamundu opposite Prasanna and Hollywood actor John Shea.
The friendship that began between Sneha and Prasanna on the sets of Achchamundu Achchamundu eventually led to them getting married on 11 May 2012.
Her roles in Venkat Prabhu’s Goa and in G. Kicha’s Bhavani received lots of praise, but the latter failed at the box-office.
She bounced back to form with impressive roles in Haridas and Un Samaiyil Araiyil.
Sneha continues to maintain her presence in the Tamil field, having played an important role in Dhanush’s Pattaas and in Vijay’s The Greatest of all Time. She was last seen in a cameo in Pradeep Ranganathan’s box-office hit, Dragon.
