Jiiva makes a comeback after two years in the science fiction horror thriller, Black. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead. The supporting cast includes Vivek Prasanna, Sha Ra, Swayam Siddha and Sindhoori. The film marks the directorial debut of KG Balasubramani.
Vassanth (Jiiva) and Aaranya (Priya Bhavani Shankar) are a married couple who decide to take an unplanned vacation in a holiday home they had recently purchased. On arriving at the gated complex, they are told that they would be the only people there. Shortly after their arrival, strange and unexplainable events occur which confuses, perplexes and terrify the couple but then they make a chilling discovery. The rest of the story is revealed in the rest of this tense thriller.
KG Balasubramani has done a great job of an unusual theme and he had done equally well in the pace of the screenplay. There are many plot twists and the science fiction element is an interesting angle that elevates the film. There is enough in the screenplay to keep the viewer engaged right to the very end.
Jiiva does an excellent job of portraying the quick-tempered Vassanth. He is able to convey the various emotions demanded of the role effortlessly. Priya Bhavani Shankar matches Jiiva with a very spirited performance as Aaranya. Vivek Prasanna and Sha Ra provide excellent support.
Music composer Sam CS does an excellent job of the background score and is impressive with the song En Chella Kedi.
Cinematographer Gokul Benoy uses creative tracking very effectively but could have made better use of lighting.
Based on the 2013 Hollywood thriller, Coherence, the film is a neat adaptaption and provides riveting entertainment.
