Song : Enai Neeengathe Nee
Film/Album : Tharunam
Singers : Kapil Kapilan & Pavithra Chari
Lyrics : Madhan Karky
Music : Darbuka Siva
Note: The audio and lyric video of this song released in March 2024 (before Sigaram was established), but the music video was released on 04 January 2025
Impact of the song
This is a catchy melody with a good combination of good lyrics, excellent rendition and creative music arrangements.
Vocal rendition
Kapil Kapilan is an under-appreciated and under-utilized singer and his range in this song, especially his subtle nuances, is evidence of his talent as a singer. Despite being the winner of the 2021 SIIMA award for best playback singer for the song Adiye from Bachelor, he only recorded 25 songs across all languages last year. With a song like this at the beginning of the new year, this picture would hopefully change. Pavithra Chari, being a Grammy nominee, does not disappoint and delivers a flawless rendition, providing appropriate support to Kapil Kapilan.
Musical Arrangement
Darbuka Siva is a very talented composer and, like Kapil Kapilan, deserves more recognition. There is always an element of freshness in his melodies and his instrumentation is often layered. This song is quite catchy in the first listening, but subsequent listening will ensure that this song becomes a permanent feature on your playlist.
Lyrics
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I do believe that the quality of lyrics by Madhan Karky outshines many of the new lyrics by his father, Vairamuth. The diction is always varied and he is able to capture simple emotions in very powerful ways.
Final Analysis
Enai Neengathe Nee may not have the best picturisation, but if one concentrates on the audio, this is indeed a magical song that deserves repeat listening.
