Sivakarthikeyan becomes only the 4th Tamil actor to join the 250-crore club, a feat achieved in only 12 days. This club formally had only Rajinikanth, Kamalhaasan and Vijay in it. With the success of Amaran at the worldwide box-office, Sivakarthikeyan has effectively joined this top tier of actors.
Amaran is still running strong at the box-office despite the release yesterday of Suriya’s Kanguva. The greatest earnings from the film have come from Tamil Nadu where it grossed more than 120 crores (and still counting).
Amaran is a moving biopic based on the life of Major Mukund Varatharajan, and sees Sivakarthikeyan playing the best role of his career opposite Sai Pallavi. Sai Pallavi’s role as Mukund Varatharajan’s wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese, is also being lauded as the best of her notable career.
Apart from the impact of a very creative screenplay from director Rajkumar Periyasamy, the film has also impressed critics and fans alike by its technical excellence, brilliant cinematography and some of the best action sequences seen in recent times.
However, the real reason for the film’s success is the strong emotional impact it has had on audiences. While Mukund Varatharajan is not India’s first or last martyr, it is the deeply moving love story that has left most of its audience teary-eyed and emotionally immersed in the film.
GV Prakash Kumar’s songs and background music has also been a major factor in the film’s success.
Despite all these achievements, Sivakarthikeyan remains firmly grounded and remains as humble and unassuming as he has always been. It is for this reason that the celebration of his success has not been limited to his die-hard fans. The general film-supporting public have now recognized that he trulu belongs in the top tier of actors in Kodambakkam.
