Raghavendra Raja Rao is better known by his stage name – Sean Roldan. He was born on 27 December 1987.
He showed an early interest in music and ventured into his own compositions after learning Carnatic music.
He made his entry to films through Vaayai Moodi Pesavum after the project was dropped by Anirudh Ravichander. After the success of this soundtrack, Sean Roldan found further fame the same year with Sathuranga Vettai, Mundasupatti and Aadama Jaichomada.
It was a slow climb from that point onward, with his soundtracks enjoying mixed success until he scored music for his next major film – Suriya’s Jai Bhim.
His more recent soundtracks include August 16, 1947, Good Night, Lucky Man, Lover, Raghu Thatha, Lubber Pandhu, Tourist Family, Love Marriage and the recently released Revolver Rita.
Sean is also an accomplished singer. Apart from singing under his own music, he has also collaborated with Santhosh Narayanan, Yuvanshankar Raja and Anirudh Ravichander.
Although it was A.R. Rahman’s debut album – Roja – that inspired his entry to the film scene as a music composer, Sean draws most of his inspiration from the music of Isai Nyaani Illaiyaraja.
Sean Roldan turns 38 today.
