The multi-faceted Ramesh Aravind

Kannada actor-writer and director, Ramesh Aravind is no stranger to Tamil audiences. Introduced to films by K. Balachander in the Kannada remake of Sollathaan Ninaikiren, Ramesh Aravind made his Tamil debut in K Balachander’s Manadhil Urudhi Vendum  a role for which he received critical acclaim. He became an audience favourite after his spirited role inVassanth’s keladi Kanmani before catapulting to more critical acclaim in the film Duet, also directed by K. Balachander.

After meeting Kamalhassan at an awards function, the two formed a bond, growing into a solid friendship that saw collaborations like Sathi Leelavathy, Panja Thanthiram and Mumbai Express before being asked by Kamalhassan to direct Uththama Villain.

Ramesh Aravind turned 61 on 10 September.
