Vijayakanth will be best remembered not for his many cinematic roles – all in Tamil – but for his philanthropy and his relationship with the people he met.
Despite having a fiery temper, he was soft-hearted and very compassionate. He should the same repsect to the top actors that he showed to the assistants on set or those who prepared meals for the film crew.
The outpouring of emotion at his funeral showed the love that people had for him.
The admirable thing about Vijayakanth was that he was a self-made man – a man who overcame unbelievable obstacles and challenges, a man who faced criticism and humiliation, a man who faced prejudice and defeat – but he was able to overcome all of this without resorting to bitterness. Instead of being a victim to his circumstances, he chose to climb out it and eventually be a source of inspiration to millions of people.
