Bharath made his debut to films in Shankar’s Boys before his 20th birthday.
He was born in Kumbakonam on 21 July 1983. He showed an early interest in dance and joined a professional dance club when he was 11. He was noticed by Shankar when he was performing on stage and this led to his casting in Boys.
He followed this with a powerful role as antagonist in Gandhi Krishna’s Vishal starrer Chellamae. It was with his third film – Kaadhal – that cemented his place in the industry.
Until the release of Veyil, he had a dream career, but a combination of poor script selection and some bad luck saw repeated failures at the box-office, with R. Kannan’s Kanden Kadhalai being the notable exception.
Then followed another lean period when his films failed at the box-office, but he bounced back with Sasi’s action thriller Ainthu Ainthu Ainthu.
In 2013 he made his debut to Hindi film through Jackpot but this was also met with failure.
Another challenging period followed until the release of Kalidas which saw positive reviews from critics.
Bharathh’s 50th film, Love did not fare well at the box-office.
Bharath’s last released film was the 2024 hyperlink thriller, Once upon a Time in Madras which attracted very encouraging reviews.
He will soon be seen in the sequel to Kalidas.
Bharath turns 42 today.
