Harris Jayaraj made his debut as a music composer in Gautham Vasduevan’s debut film, Minnale although his first signed project was Prashanth’s Majunu.
Before his debut, he had worked as a musician or programmer for AR Rahman, Karthik Raja, Yuvanshankar Raja and Vidyasagar.
His songs in Minnale enjoyed tremendous popularity and won for him the Filmfare Award for Best Music Composer – an award that AR Rahman had won for the previous 9 consecutive years.
Harris Jayaraj is strongly influenced by western music and the result was a series of soundtracks that appealed to the youth. Ge did, however, prove his versatility with many soundtracks like Kovil and Samy. His last released soundtrack was for Jayam Ravi’s Brother..
Harris’s son, Samuel Nicholas Harris, recently made his debut as a music composer. His daughter, Karen Nikitha Harris made her debut as a playback singer in the song Vinnil Vinmeen from Kaapaan.
