Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran blasts into the record books
The Sivakarthikeyan-Pallavi starrer, Amaran, released this Deepavali, taking the third best opening after Vettaiyan and The Goat. The film has attracted widespread praise from critics, audiences and many from within the industry. The film crossed 100-crores on the third day and, by the 6th day, had already beaten the total takings of The GOAT in Andhra PradesH=Telangana theatres. On the Book My Show platform, it set a new record for Tamil films by selling more than 32 000 tickets in one hour. Globally, the film was ranked at number 7 of all releases for the Deepavali weekend. Vijay Sethupathy’s son makes his acting debut in Phoenix
With all the excitement surrounding the release of Kanguva on 14 November, fans should note that another major film will be releasing on the same day. Titled Phoenix, the film introduces popular stunt director Anal Arasu as a director. The lead role will be played by Surya Vijay Sethupathy, the son of Vijay Sethupathi, in his film debut. This action drama also stars Varalakshmi, Sampath, Devadharshini, Ajay Ghosh, Harish Uththaman and Muthukumar.
Karthick Naren returns with Nirangall Moondru
Nirangall Moondru has suffered numerous delays in production but has now crossed all hurdles and will be releasing on 22 November 2024.
The movie is directed by Karthick Naren who made waves with his directorial debut at the age of 22 with the film Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru. He is also the director of Mafia Chapter 1 and Maaran.
Meanwhile, Karthick Naren’s other film, Naragasooran, has completed all shooting and post-production work, but currently experiencing challenges with its release. Naragasooran has Arvind Swamy, Sundeep Kishan, Shreya Saran, Jayaram and Athmika in the lead roles, The supernatural horror thriller is rumoured to be a spin-off from Karthick Naren’s debut film, Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru.
Naragasooran began shooting in September 2017 and was wrapped up in 41 days. After a long-standing dispute with the producer, the film was eventually censored and cleared for release in 2018. A trailer was also released for the film but the release did not materialize.
Update on Jailer 2
The script for the sequel to Rajinikanth’s Jailer has been completed and creator, writer and director Nelson Dilipkumar is now working on the second draft of the script. On completion, there will be a formal announcement on the cast and crew.
Ajithkumar’s Vidaamuyarchi commences dubbing process
Dubbing has commenced for Ajithkumar’s Vidaa Muyarchi. Written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the film also stars Trisha, Arjun, Aarav and Regina Cassandra. Anirudh Ravichander scores the music. Shooting is currently being wrapped up in Hyderabad and the teaser is scheduled for release on 10 November 2024.
