Based on a short film by Pradeep Ranganathan, the full movie adaptation covers a wide range of the challenges facing relationships today in a world that is largely dominated by social media. The modern sensibility with the conservative values provide an interesting lens with which to view the film’s narrative.

Pradeep Ranganathan makes a superb debut as a lead actor, whowing the wide range of emotions required of the role with apparent ease. Ivana, who made her Tamil debut in Bala’s Naachiyaar handles her role brilliantly with convincing facial expressions and body language. Sathyaraj brings in a delightful element into the story while Radhika Sarathkumar ensures that her portrayal remains memorable. Yogi Babu is in well-etched and neatly portrayed role while Raveena Ravi as Pradeep’s sister and Aajidh Khalique as Nikitha’s friend are the best of the supporting cast.

Pradeep Ranganathan, handling the story, screenplay, script and lyrics, in addition to directing and playing the lead role excels in all aspects. The comedy is sincere and frequent without sacrificing the credibility of the character or trivialising the serious issues dealt with by the film.

Dinesh Purushottaman’s cinematography shows some interesting experiments with light usage but does not do the same with other aspects of the cinematography.

Yuvanshanker Raja’s music is a major contributor to the film’s success with a lively soundtrack and a memorable background score.

Love Today provide solid entertainment with content that is realistic, relatable and relevant.
